About Medical Clinic

The school clinic provides both medical services. It promotes, develops, and maintains the health and general well-being of the members the school community. It conducts annual physical and dental check-ups of students. It disseminates vital health information through circulars and announcements.

Medical Policy

  • The Saint Jude Catholic School Medical & Dental Clinic recognizes that health maintenance is primarily the responsibility of the individual or the parent/guardian for minors. But because of our interest in the health and overall well-being of our school community and the possible relationships of our operations and products to health, we are maintaining a medical and dental clinic to address the basic health needs of the community.

Objectives

  • To encourage personal health maintenance
  • To assure adequate medical care and rehabilitation of the ill and injured
  • To protect the school community against health hazards in the school environment
  • To facilitate suitability of medically unfit students to resume classes, without putting at risk their own health and safety or that of the other members of the school community.

Functions of the Clinic

  • Conduct annual medical and dental examination
  • Attend to daily consultations with corresponding treatment and keeping an accurate record
  • Provide ambulance service for patients who need to be transported to the hospital for further management
  • Conduct lectures and activities with students e.g. tooth brushing & proper hand washing activity with K-II pupils puberty talk and basic 1st aid lecture with Grade V pupils
  • Issue clinic forms
  • Submit reports to the Manila Health Office and Department of Health
  • Assist students and employees in medical insurance claims
  • Conduct ocular inspection of school premises to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the school environment.

Procedure of Medical clearance prior to return to class

  • Present official excuse slip to the clinic personnel on the day of return to school
  • Submit a medical certificate issued by a duly licensed physician
  • Submit signed excuse slip to the Registrar’s office and secure re-entry permit

Important Health Reminders

  • BREAKFAST is the most important meal of the day. Kids need their morning meal to start the day right.
  • WATER – Choose water as a drink! Water is the best way to quench your thirst. 8-10 glasses a day, and more after physical activity, would go a long way. So, drink up!Bring Your Own Bottle (B.Y.O.B.) program
  • BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE. Regular physical activity, at lease 30-45 minutes daily, is important for the healthy growth, development and well-being of children and young people.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables to boost vitality and reduce risks of many chronic diseases.
  • Frequent and proper hand washing before and after eating, coughing, sneezing and using the restroom.
  • Get enough sleep to help our body and brain develop and grow.
  • Regular visit with your family doctor for monitoring
  • IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY HOME. TAKE PLENTY OF FLUIDS AND GET THE MUCH NEEDED REST TO REGAIN YOUR STRENGTH AND TO STOP THE GERM FROM SPREADING. Visit your doctor if symptoms don’t improve in a day or two.
  • Assitance in giving of medications – ONLY medicines with OFFICIAL PRESCRIPTIONS duly signed by the prescribing physician will be entertained.
  • Issuance of permits to carry bag or use elevator due to medical conditions – an official medical recommendation from a physician is a requirement.
  • The clinic only issues starter doses of medicines.
  • The clinic issues early dismissal slips only for students going home due to medical reasons. Authorization letter required if student will be fetched by guardians/helpers/drivers.
