With only a few weeks of preparation, 20 Judenites flew to Shanghai, China to represent the Philippines in this year’s World Educational Robot (WER) Contest and we did not fail to deliver. With an outstanding performance, ALL our teams received an award: three first placers, four second placers, and three third placers. The awards were based on the accumulated points from eight different tasks.
Among the overseas teams, our very own Team Just Nasti, composed of Justin Reyes (6D) and Nash Hong (5E), ranked second overall. In the Bricks Division (Elementary), the team ranked first.
Ayisha Ong (6A), Kim Sy (6B), Eiress Ong (6D) and Joseph Claros (6D) also got first place. Team Prime consisting of Jed Teo (5A) and Mia Ang (6A) is officially recognized as first placers. They rank third in the overseas elementary division.
Zachary Hong (6C), Geoffrey Chon (6C), Princess Ang (6C), Alexandra Gochian (6C), David Yu (5D), and Jasmine Ong (6E) were awarded second place.
Elaiah Asperin (5D), Franze Castaneda (5A), Casey Bernardo (5C), Avery Chu (6D), Patricia Yu (5C), and Nathan Yu (6C) were all awarded third place.
Our teams also received various secondary awards including the Best Creative Video and Best Video Performance. With discipline and great team work, the Philippine team also received the Best Organization Award.
The Best Coach Award was also given to the team leader, one of our alumni, Mr. Maximilian Hong, and all the other coaches of the Philippine team including our very own Mr. Frederick Macapulay, and Mr. Jordan dela Cruz.
Congratulations to everyone! SJCS is truly proud of this achievement.
We also would like to thank all the people who passionately trained all these Judenites and led them to such momentous victory!
